Book Review No.1 (Yearly Book Challenge): “As a Man Thinketh” by James Allen
So this was Book 1 of my Yearly Challenge 2022 (read a personal/business development book every two weeks)
This was a very short book about the power of thought and how it can literally transform everything in our lives. The principles are very good and if someone puts them into practice I am sure it can have a great positive impact in their lives. It is a book that you can pick up and reread over time, as it is very small and easy to go through. It is worth noting that this book was written in 1902 and James Allen is considered one of the “pioneering figures of modern inspirational thought”(Wikipedia). You can read more about his life here.
What this book does is reinforce the idea that our thoughts are powerful and can manifest into reality. It is a reminder that the quality of our thoughts determine the quality of our life. How it will be helpful to me: When I catch my self in a downward spiral of negative thinking, worrying and anxiety, I will bring myself back to what I am grateful for, and how I envision my dream life to be, as I am living it right this moment. This way we can shift perspective, and our positive thoughts will raise our vibration to where we want to be, and as a result bring this reality into our lives easily. If you have any idea about the basic principles of the law of attraction, this is one of its core ideas.
Overall I do recommend it, as it empowers you to put yourself in a positive state of mind. My tip is, do not expect it to go in too much detail or show you the path, this is not the book for this.
Hope you enjoy if you pick it up! 🙂
Memorable quotes:
“To desire is to obtain to aspire is to achieve.”
“The dreamers are the saviors of the world.”
“All that a man achieves and all that he fails to achieve is the direct result of his own thoughts.”
My Goodreads rating: 4/5 stars.
