Book Review No.2 (Yearly Book Challenge): “The Richest Man in Babylon” by George S. Clason

The Richest Man in Babylon Book Cover

Book 2 of my Yearly Challenge 2022 (reading a personal/business development book every two weeks)

Very wise and solid advice on the fundamentals of how you can become wealthy by following a few basic steps. These are very easy and simple tips, but I think it is a must read for everyone who wants to look into this topic more. It is a classic, and it is especially good if you are just beginning. It is told as a parable of a man who became really wealthy many years ago, and it is written in traditional english in some parts (a bit challenging for my reading pace, but not really a big problem). Although the examples are not representative of today, they are still very relatable, you just need to apply in the modern world.

Have you read this book? And if yes, I would love to hear your thoughts 🙂

Memorable Quotes:

“If you did keep for yourself one-tenth of all you earn, how much would you have in ten years?”

“Wealth, like a tree, grows from a tiny seed. The first copper you save is the seed from which your tree of wealth shall grow. The sooner you plant that seed the sooner shall the tree grow. And the more faithfully you nourish and water that tree with consistent savings, the sooner may you bask in contentment beneath its shade.”

“Wealth grows wherever men exert energy”

“This, then, is the third cure for a lean purse: to put each coin to laboring that it may reproduce its kind even as the flocks of the field and help bring to thee income, a stream of wealth that shall flow constantly into thy purse.”

“Own thy own home.”

“Desires must be simple and definite. They defeat their own purpose should they be too many, too confusing, or beyond a man’s training to accomplish.”

“Good luck can be enticed by accepting opportunity.”

My Goodreads rating: 5/5 stars.
